Q: What are some good styles for the summer?

Brian in Knoxville,TN

A: Facial hair should always be weather-appropriate. In the winter, grow it long so it will provide warmth and protect for your face when the temperatures dip. In the summer, crop your beard short to let your skin breathe. In the warm weather, your skin will become more oily and sweaty, causing more chances for breakouts, so wash and condition it regularly!

If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, experiment with a new style altogether. Branch out into the world of mustaches, goatees, sideburns—or something in between. There are nearly limitless combinations you can create to find the one that works best for you. That way, you can keep much of your face clean shaven while not abandoning your hirsute pursuits altogether.
